Good hiking spot. Campgrounds are well maintained & have outhouses & water available. West & North loops have a decent bit of bush whacking & could use some maintenance. Southern loop is the most scenic, recommend this most of all.
I went for a backpacking trip and the camp site was great
ITS A GREAT PLACE JUST SOUTH OF HOCKING HILLS A VERY NICE PLACE TO STAY LAKE HOPE IS STRAIGHT OUT OF A POST CARD THEY HAVE BOAT RENTALS A BEACH NO STRICT TIMES ON THE BEACH REASONABLE PRICING ON THE CABINS .THE ONLY DOWNFALL IS THE TIME IT TAKES TO GET TO ANYTHING IF YOU NEED SOMERHING FROM THE STORE YOU ARE GOING AN HOUR ROUND TRIP AT LEAST , AND NO CELL SERVICE SO ITS GREAT TO GET THE SCREEN ADDICTS BACK TO REALITY FOR A LITTLE BIT.
Spent a couple hours exploring the area look forward to many more...
Awesome place for backpacking. We picked a very wet weekend to go.
Went to Lake Hope State Park to camp for the weekend. Great campground. Lots of room. Walked some of the trails 8ncluding the Moonville Rail Trail which was awesome. The Moonville Tunnel was really interesting. Well maintained trail with beautiful views of creeks and ponds. Camp spot was great. Had picnic table and fire pit with grill. Close to bathhouse. Bathhouse and restrooms were very clean and heated. Really enjoyed the fall foliage. Check out the backpacking trail and hanging furnace while you're there. Great little picnic area by the dam too with views of the lake
Great trails. Well maintained and marked.I hiked the Olds Hollow Trail and part of the King Hollow Trail. I wouldn't say either are difficult but the terrain is very up and down but not too steep. You will get your heart rate up.
A beautiful forest with an abundance of smooth gravel roads to traverse this great public land. Lake Hope State Park offers camping, and they do have a 22 mile backpacking trail through the forest. Convenient to US 50 and US 33, this is a must visit in Ohio.
